"What I think is, it's never too late... or, in my case, too early, to be whoever you want to be... There's no time limit, start anytime you want... change or stay the same... there aren't any rules... We can make the best or worst of it... I hope you make the best... I hope you see things that startle you. Feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you challenge yourself. I hope you stumble, and pick yourself up. I hope you live the life you wanted to... and if you haven't, I hope you start all over again."
--Benjamin Button--
So, last night John and I went out on a date, thanks to Casey for tending. We went and saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and it was fabulous!! Although it was a lengthy 3 hour movie, I was glued. It is so interesting to see a life lived backwards. There were some thoughts in there, too, that really got me thinking about life. He was angry at his birth-father for giving him up, but he said something to the effect: "You can be angry as a wet-dog, but in the end you just have to let it go." I am sure that this was done in not so many words, and a little more eloquently. I particularly loved the ending, where he dies as a baby, which obviously is very predictable. I love how the make-up and costume directors made both Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett according to their age they were trying to portray. This movie was VERY memorable, and one that I would pay to see again at the theater. I am such a sap, and cry over everything, but it really has been a while since I have cried like this (although I did cry in Bedtime Stories!) AND, I love to cry while watching movies. My motto should be: "If it doesn't make me cry, then it probably wasn't a very good show." I don't know, I guess the story was just very well written and the characters were well established. I felt like I was submerged in the lives of these characters.
When Legends of the Fall came out, gosh, like 15 years ago (I went to see this with John when I was in the 9th grade.) I thought that Brad Pitt was one of the HOTTEST guys that I had ever seen. Through time, he really started getting on my nerves, largely because of his choices with Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. I generally stopped liking him and didn't think that he was so hot anymore. This movie, once again, changed my mind about him. He was a fabulous actor and portrayed the character of Benjamin Button perfectly. Cate Blanchett, too, was amazing. She is so beautiful. Her character was a sassy, partly ornery girl-but for some reason you really like her and pull for their relationship. The two, together, were amazing.
I am wondering who I can go see this with again, and then I would have to find the time to leave for 3 whole hours.
